1. Parent/teacher conferences are an important time to discuss your child’s progress so far this trimester.  It is important that you make sure you are on time for your conference.  Each parent is scheduled for 15 minutes.    Please keep this is mind when you are conferencing with the teacher.

2.  Merritt Academy Family Detroit Pistons Night-  Please read the attached flier about how you and your child can attend a Detroit Pistons game.  Our middle and high school concert bands will be performing before the game!
 
3.   Upcoming Early Release Date-  On February 16, 2017 @ 1:30 Merritt Academy will be having an early release day.  Please mark your calendars and plan to have your child picked up at this early time.  This is the day before our winter break starts which is February 17th and February 20th.

4.  Merritt Academy Socks- Merritt Academy spirit socks are available to order through the flier attached. 
 
5.  Detroit Red Wings Reading Opportunity- Merritt Academy students have an opportunity to win Red Wings tickets, and the school has an opportunity to have Justin Abdelkader in to read to a classroom as well as earning money for library resources. Check it out:

7. WINTER SPORTS UPDATE

Girls Varsity Basketball

The girls are off to a nice 3-2 record on the season and are currently 1-0 in the league. The girls have a busy week next week playing 3 games during the week. Come on out Tuesday night at 530pm to see the girls play Landmark Academy.

Boys Varsity Basketball

The boys are off to a 2-1 start on the season with a 1-0 mark in the league. Next week is a crucial ISAC league game vs Landmark at 7pm Tuesdaynight at Merritt Academy.

Boys JV Basketball

The boys program was large enough to have a JV team this year. The JV boys are currently 1-1 on the season with a win over Owen-Gage and a loss at Memphis. The boys JV tournament that was postponed before break has been rescheduled for Saturday January 21st at 9:00am.

Varsity Bowling

After a few year hiatus the varsity bowling team is back! The boys begin matches on Jan 9th at Strikers.

Varsity Cheer

The cheer team is doing an amazing job pumping up school spirit and cheering on the varsity basketball teams! Keep up the strong work Coach D’Agostin and team!

Girls 7-8 Basketball

The girls 7-8 grade basketball team is currently 4-2 on the season with 2 games left to go. The girls play at home vs Chatfield today and at Lapeer Homeschool on Jan 13th. Lets finish this excellent season strong ladies!

Girls 5-6 Basketball

The girls 5-6 grade basketball team is currently 0-4 on the season but is learning valuable fundamentals of the game from Coach Stewart! The girls finish up their season with a home game on Jan 5th vs Chatfield and a road game vs Lapeer Homeschool on Jan 13th.

Boys 7-8 Basketball

Coach Kaltz brings his basketball knowledge to Merritt Academy as the new 7-8 grade boys coach. The team begins practice in the big gym on MONDAY JAN 16th at 330-5pm. If you would like to tryout for this team please meet in the gym on Jan 16th. You must have a physical to practice and tryout.

Boys 5-6 Basketball

Coach Brisson leads the boys 5-6 grade basketball team this winter. The boys start practice on Friday Jan 6th at 330-5pm in the small gym. Please be there at 330pm on Friday if you are interested in being a part of this team!

MS Girls Cheerleading

Coach Lazaris leads the MS girls team this winter. The girls begin tryouts on Jan 17th at 330pm. Please have your physical turned in before trying out for this team.
