2.  Merritt Seniors Honored at Macomb County All Academic Banquet

On Wednesday, April 26 five Merritt Seniors were honored and recognized at Villa Penna in Sterling Heights by the Macomb Daily. Tatayana Kennedy-Banks, Meaghan Kemp, Noah Redlawsk, Georgie Broyles, and Mackenzie Fortin were 5 of the top 100 seniors in Macomb County. Merritt had more representatives from our small school than many of the much larger districts including Dakota, Utica, and Eisenhower. These students were ranked based upon SAT scores and grades they have accumulated here at Merritt.  We are very proud of all of them and they did a great job representing Merritt on this night!

3.  Merritt Academy Winterguard Competitive Team 2017-2018 Parent Meeting

In a quest to offer as many extracurricular activities as possible Merritt Academy as an opportunity to start a Winterguard Competitive team next school year.  We will be having a Parent meeting on May 11th at 5:30 with the coach, Kacey Vanderkarr. A letter will be getting distributed to all students that signed up to participate in this today inviting them to this meeting.

Winterguard is a competitive sport that uses dance, flags, mock rifles, and sabres to interpret music. Performers learn choreography, flag work, and staging, then travel the state of Michigan competing against other teams. No experience is necessary, though a background in dance is beneficial.
