Important Merritt Academy News

  • School hours- School hours are once again from 7:45 to 3:15.    
  • First/Second Grade Split:  We will not be having a first and second grade split.  We will be having two first grade and two second grade classes. 
  • New Notification System- Merritt Academy has a new notification system this year.  Incoming calls will come from the school phone number 586-749-6000.
  • Casual Day Buy-Out- Families can pay $30 per child on or before Friday, September 8th for casual Friday dress downs to cover the whole school year.  The maximum a family with 2 or more children would need to pay is $60.
  • Homecoming Football Game- September 29, 2017 at 4:30 versus Kinde North Huron. Join the Mini-Mustangs Cheerleaders as they join the Varsity Girls cheerleaders.  In addition, our Merritt Academy Mustang Marching Band will be performing their first ever half time show.  The night will be filled with fun filled family activities.
  • Arrival/Dismissal- Please see the attached map to find the drop/off and pick up areas and procedures.   For the K-5 we will be doing indoor classroom dismissals once again.

E Mail Blasts- E-mail blasts will once again be used as the main form of communication to parents.  Make sure you log onto Powerschool and make sure the correct information is present.  If for some reason you are still not getting these weekly communications it is imperative you contact the school so we can get an updated e-mail address for you.  I am looking forward to working with you and your student as we work toward an academically successful school year.

Parking Permits- All students that are driving to school must have a parking permit displayed in their window.  They will be assigned a specific spot to park in and are expected to be parked there everyday.  Failure to comply may result in loss of driving privileges.  Permits can be purchased in the office for $20.00 until September 8th.  The $20 fee must be paid every year.

Food Allergies:  If your child has a food allergy please make sure to inform the classroom teacher as well as contact Ms. Michelle in the lunchroom.

Emergency Information:  Please make sure if your contact information changes during the school year you notify the office right away.  In addition, am emergency contact changes contact the office right away.
