Merritt News 09/07/2017

Good Morning Parents!  Please read through all the information below as it contains information about important events and happenings at Merritt.

1.    Casual Day Buy-Out

The last day of the each week at Merritt is a casual day.  Students can dress down for $1.00.  However, to make it more convenient we offer a buy-out at the beginning of each school year.  Tomorrow, Friday, September 8th is the last day families can pay $30 per child for these dress down days to cover the whole school year.  The maximum a family with 2 or more children would need to pay is $60.  Please submit your payment to the office or your child's teacher tomorrow and your children will get put on the list where they do not have to pay on these days for the reminder of the school year.

2.    PowerSchool Log-Ins-

Students will be bringing home Parent Portal log-ins today or tomorrow.  Please check with them to make sure they brought it home.  This will give you access to your child's grades 24 hours a day 7 days a week.  Please contact the main office if you don't receive this information this week.

3.  Merritt Academy Helping to Fight T1D

We have a Merritt family that will be walking for JDRF for type 1diabetes. On September 17, 2017, the Hollers family will be walking in JDRF One Walk® to change the lives of people who have type 1 diabetes (T1D).

With T1D, there are no breaks. Weston, a Merritt Academy student, has to test his blood sugar several times a day and pay close attention to what he eats. He worries about things like keeping a balance between blood sugar lows and highs. It can be really overwhelming.

But the exciting research JDRF is funding gives them hope that they won't have to live with T1D forever!  A portion of the money raised from the first two dress down days will be donated to this great cause.  If you are willing to make a donation above and beyond what the school is doing please contact Mr. Seiferlein before Wednesday, September 13th.

4.    Popcorn Fridays

Will start next Friday September 15th.  Popcorn can be purchased for .50 a bag.  Popcorn Fridays will run most Fridays through out the school year.  In the event that there will NOT be popcorn on a given week we will do our best to notify families via these e mail blasts.
