1. Progress Reports-

All progress reports that were not picked up at parent/teacher conferences last week will be sent home with all students in K-12 this week.

2. Noodles and Co. Fundraiser!

Thank you to everyone who came out and supported Merritt and our Winter guard team at Noodles & Co. The school raised over $700 for the evening with the raffle and food sales. Way to go Merritt Families!!

3. Merritt Academy Music News

Merritt Academy Bands Dress Down Day - Wednesday, January 31st

The Merritt Academy Bands have commissioned Michael Sweeney, award-winning American composer, arranger, musician, and current director of band publications at Hal Leonard Music Publishing to compose a piece of music for the Merritt Academy Bands. The music will be premiered at our Spring Concert on Thursday, May 17, 2018. All the funds raised from the four Merritt Band dress down days will go directly toward this event.

MSBOA High School District Band Festival - Saturday, March 10th @ Dakota High School - Performance at 9:25am

Cedar Point Music in the Parks Festival - January payment due Wednesday, January 31st - $50

4. NHS Food Drive

The National Honor Society will be hosting a Food Drive for families in need. Acceptable donations include: canned/non-perishable food items, toiletries, as well as paper products (paper plates, silverware, cups, paper towels, toilet paper, etc). Preschool to 5th grade will give their donations to their teacher. Middle and High School students will turn in their donations to their first hour teacher, and NHS will count and collect the boxes daily. The classes that donate the most items will receive a reward. Donations will be accepted starting Monday, January 22nd, through Friday February 2nd.

  • K-2: Free Popcorn Friday
  • 3-5: Free Popcorn Friday
  • 6-8: Donut Party
  • 9-12: Donut Party

5. Popcorn Friday Help Needed

We are in need of a few more parents to help with popcorn Fridays. If interested please contact the office to let them know when you might be able to volunteer a Friday or two in the upcoming weeks ahead.

6. Pistons Game/Merritt Band Performance

Please read the attached flier pertaining to our ms and hs bands playing at a Pistons game on March 7th
