29 Homecoming Dances

1. Attention all New, Kindergarten, and 7th Grade Families.

The Macomb County Health Department is now requiring parents of all NEW, KINDERGARTEN, and 7TH grade students to sign a consent form. The form is attached. By signing this form you give permission to Merritt Academy to share immunization information with the Macomb County Health Department.

Please sign and return the attached form to the office by SEPTEMBER 28th. If you have any questions please contact our office manager, Ms. Amy, in the office.

1. Open House- Merritt Academy's Open House is this Wednesday, August 29, 2018 from 4:00-7:00. On this night you will be able to do the following:

* Meet your child's teacher K-12

* High School Students need to report to the main office at scheduled times to choose elective offerings:

11th/12th Grade 4:00-5:00

10th grade 5:00-6:00

9th grade 6:00-7:00

* Middle School students can pick up schedules in the gym between 4:00-7:00.

* Pick up transportation schedules in gym

* Also there will be tables set up for you to fill out paperwork and acquire more information for: latchkey, sports, uniforms, lunch, dress down opt-out, and driving permits.

12- Last day of School Supper Happy Fun Day and Picnic Dismissal 1:00

1. June 12th Last Day of School Information

The last day of school is tomorrow June 12th with a 1:00 dismissal. The students depending on age level will be involved with numerous, different fun activities. Here is the schedule of some of the events:

K-2 SHFD 8:00-9:30

3-5 SHFD 9:30-11:00

Middle and High School Field Days- 9:00-11:00

Picnic Times

11:15- Middle School

11:35- K-2

11:55- High School

12:15- 3-5

Parent are welcomed to enjoy a lunch with your child(ren) free of charge! There is an early release bus schedule attached to this e mail blast if you are still planning on your child(ren) using the Merritt bus.

1. NO Marching Band Meeting Today

Hello Parents/Guardians,

There is not a marching band meeting after school today. In lieu of a meeting, the students were given a general information letter and agreement form on Monday which is to be turned in to Mr. Kimsey with the $25 participation fee by Tuesday, June 12th.

What is it: In celebration of Father's Day Merritt Academy invites all Preschool-5th Grade students to bring a special someone in to enjoy a free breakfast!

When is it: Thursday, June 7th from 7:00am-7:30am.

Where is it: High School Cafeteria

1. Merritt Academy Safety Update

We continue to up our school safety preparedness through these activities:

  1. Strategic staff in place at arrival and dismissal
  2. Continued drill practices
  3. 3m window film covering (Bullet and crack proof glass that will be getting put on all doors in our high school)
  4. New doors for most main entrances on campus
  5. Alice training (All staff will be trained this summer and our school safety plan will be revised to match what is taught to our teachers)
  6. Alternative locks put on all classroom doors beyond regular lock (In process of happening)
  7. K-9 dog visited our campus
  8. Ok 2 Say Assemblies held for K-12th grades at the beginning of May

11th Grade SVSU Trip

This past trimester the Junior Class went on a field trip to Saginaw Valley State University. Students were given an extensive tour of the campus, including classrooms, dorms, and various buildings and libraries. They learned about the admission process, scholarships and financial aid, and different aspects about life on campus.

Saginaw Valley State University offers Merritt Academy students an exclusive scholarship every year worth approximately $32,000. Six of our Class of 2018 graduating seniors at Merritt Academy were eligible to receive this scholarship from SVSU this year.

Dual Enrollment

High School students interested in taking Dual Enrollment classes at Macomb Community College in the Fall 2018 need to see Mr. Witkowski for and application. The deadline for this application is June 3rd.

1. Last Day of School June 12th Information

The last day for the 2017-2018 school year is on Tuesday, June 12th. This will be a 1:00 dismissal! The students will be involved with different activities depending on grade level: Super Happy Fun Day, picnic, field day, yearbook signings, and much more will be occurring on this day at Merritt. Please note the new dismissal time and make arrangements for your child to be picked up at this time.
