1. Snow Day School Plans
As you all are very well aware of we have had an overabundance of school cancellations due to the weather with more potentially coming our way for this week as we are under a winter storm watch for tonight all the way through Wednesday morning. At one point, if Merritt needs to keep canceling school we are going to have to add days back onto the calendar that we were originally scheduled to be off. Merritt Academy has had 8 snow days so far and once we go over 9 we will be required to add hours and days back onto our calendar to make up for this missed time. We are already applying for the 3 additional granted excused days from the State as schools are typically only granted 6 snow days.
Good Afternoon Parents, Students, and Staff:
As the winter weather wages on I wanted to send you an update this afternoon on what the rest of this week will look like. Merritt Academy will not be in session Wednesday, January 30th and Thursday, January 31st. This is due to wind chill warnings being issued for our area with temperatures between -30 - -40 each morning forecasted. With this being said you will find a schedule of how we are going to proceed with the assumption that school will resume Friday morning.

Can you imagine going to work every day without getting paid for it? Unfortunately, this is what is happening to our Coast Guard, Border Patrol, and TSA department due to the government shutdown.
